The Orion Amphitheater • October 23–24, 2026 • Updated October 21
Billy Strings plays The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, 2026. Both evenings list doors at 6:30 p.m. and show time at 7:30 p.m. Our plan: arrive early for the market atmosphere, make space for two different nights of music, and sort the ride home before the first jam begins.
Huntsville rewards a little more preparation than an indoor arena stop. You’re planning an outdoor evening, a possible afternoon at Shakedown Street, and the journey between downtown and the amphitheater. This guide combines our personal setlist predictions with those practical choices.
Schedule sources: the venue’s October 23 page and October 24 page. The official artist tour page marks both sold out and provides waitlist and CashorTrade links.
Huntsville setlist predictions: our picks for each night
These are our personal song selections for the two evenings, presented as a listening guide rather than an announced running order. For Friday, we’re leaning toward the band’s quick-moving bluegrass side before a big melodic release. Saturday’s list leaves more room for patient, exploratory passages.
The recent October 20 Chattanooga report includes “Hellbender,” “Seney Stretch,” “My Alice” and “Pyramid Country.” Earlier, the October 9 Everett show featured “Away From the Mire,” “Fire Line” and “Gild the Lily”; October 10 brought “Thunder” and “Turmoil & Tinfoil.” Those recent reports shape our starting pool.
Fast picking, then a wide horizon
- Dust in a Baggie
- On the Line
- Hellbender
- Leaning on a Travelin’ Song
- Seney Stretch
- In the Morning Light
- Fire Line
- Away From the Mire
- Gild the Lily
- Little Maggie
Our Friday ideal begins with a sharp burst of energy, then gives the vocals room to land. “In the Morning Light” makes a useful emotional turning point before “Fire Line” pushes outward again. We’d save “Gild the Lily” for the moment the whole evening seems to open up.
Storytelling and long-form exploration
- Taking Water
- In the Clear
- My Alice
- Seven Weeks in County
- Pyramid Country
- Long Forgotten Dream
- Thunder
- Highway Hypnosis
- Turmoil & Tinfoil
- Reuben’s Train
Saturday is where we’d lean into contrast: a narrative song such as “My Alice,” followed by the release of an instrumental stretch. “Pyramid Country” and “Thunder” are the pieces we’d most like to hear develop outdoors. Keep an ear on the handoffs between guitar, banjo and fiddle when the melody starts changing shape.
A good first-show listening assignment
Choose three songs before traveling: “Dust in a Baggie” for the punch, “Away From the Mire” for the slow build, and “Seven Weeks in County” for the storytelling. You’ll have recognizable landmarks without turning the evening into a checklist. When a jam moves beyond the song you know, follow the bass pulse and listen for the phrase that brings everybody back together.
If you’re attending both nights, keep your Friday notes short: one transition, one unexpected song and one instrumental moment. Comparing those memories after Saturday is more satisfying than spending the performance documenting every change on your phone.
Before you go: choose an afternoon plan or an evening arrival
The early-arrival route
Both official event pages currently list Shakedown Street at 2 p.m. and Apollo South at 4 p.m., ahead of the 6:30 p.m. doors. Treat these as separate stages of the day: browsing first, food and a meeting point next, then entry. Recheck the linked event page before setting off, especially if the afternoon schedule is central to your plans.
Keep purchases manageable. The amphitheater’s screening rules still matter when you move from the afternoon activities into the show. Make your bag and weather layer decisions before you arrive, and avoid buying something bulky without a plan for carrying it through the evening.
Staying downtown? Use the event shuttle
The City of Huntsville’s October 19 announcement confirms Orion Express service for both dates: departures every 15 minutes from 4–7 p.m., with returns from 9 p.m. until one hour after the event ends. Round-trip fares are $6, or $3 for seniors and riders with disabilities.
Stops include the Lumberyard lot, Garage D on Lincoln Street, 106 Jefferson Hotel, and the Monroe Street hotel group serving Embassy Suites, AC Hotel and Hampton Inn & Suites. The city offers Token Transit advance purchase or exact onboard cash. Check the announcement for your stop, then choose a departure with breathing room before doors.
One timing detail worth planning around
The shuttle’s first outbound trips begin at 4 p.m., while Shakedown Street is listed from 2 p.m. If you want the full early-afternoon experience, arrange a separate outbound journey. For an evening-only plan, the shuttle fits naturally around food and the 6:30 p.m. doors.
Driving or taking rideshare
According to The Orion’s parking guide, venue parking is included with the concert ticket and allocated first come, first served. Lots open two hours before doors, which works out to 4:30 p.m. for the listed schedule; vehicles cannot remain overnight. For earlier activities, confirm event-specific parking access with the venue instead of assuming the regular lots open at 2 p.m.
Rideshare pickup and drop-off is up Nunnuhsae Park Drive from the North Gate. Save that location with your group before the show. If you’re driving, photograph the lot marker and choose a meeting point before splitting up for food or merchandise.
Pack for an outdoor show, with room to move
The Orion’s security guide permits bags, totes or purses smaller than 12 × 6 × 12 inches; backpacks are prohibited. Bring an empty reusable bottle of 32 ounces or less for refill stations. Single-use plastic bottles and umbrellas are not allowed, and re-entry is prohibited.
For the weather layer, choose a compact poncho and a jacket you can carry comfortably. The venue’s visitor guide says events run rain or shine, with emergency updates issued through official channels. Check the local forecast on the day; build your outfit around the conditions rather than a generic idea of an October evening.
Your phone is your ticket through AXS, and The Orion is cashless. Have the app and tickets ready before joining the queue, bring a working payment card, and keep enough battery for the journey home. The city shuttle’s exact-cash option is separate from the venue’s payment policy.
A tour tee that includes the Huntsville dates
The shop’s swan-and-floral tees carry “Oct 23–24 — Huntsville, AL” on the back. They make a useful choice for fans who like a full tour itinerary rather than a single-city graphic. We’d pair either with comfortable trousers and an easy outer layer for the amphitheater.
Swan Floral Tour Tee — Washed Beige
Our Huntsville pick: an earthy base with bright artwork that works naturally with denim or an olive jacket.
US$34
Swan Floral Tour Tee — Pink
Choose pink for a brighter look. Dark jeans keep the styling simple and let the red lettering and floral illustration stand out.
US$26
MerchReport shop picks; prices checked October 21, 2026. Compare the size chart with a tee you own and check delivery timing for your address. For this imminent show, plan to wear something already in your wardrobe; the tour tee can be a keepsake for later.
✓ A quick check before you head out
- Ticket: correct date in AXS, phone charged and payment card ready.
- Arrival: an early-afternoon plan or a specific shuttle departure.
- Carry: measured small bag, empty refillable bottle, poncho and earplugs.
- Return: shuttle stop or rideshare point saved, and the car cleared from venue parking that night.
Give Friday enough time to find your rhythm, then use what you learned to make Saturday effortless. If you’re following the tour onward, our Billy Strings Baltimore October 30–31 guide covers the next weekend’s arena shows and Halloween plans.
